Hotel Monaco
Pittsburgh, PA
Beginning in 2013, Powers & Company, Inc. was part of a team that rehabilitated the former Philadelphia Company Building in Pittsburgh into the Hotel Monaco, a Kimpton Hotel. Built in stages between 1901 and 1924, the eight-story Beaux Arts-style building is located in the Pittsburgh Central Downtown Historic District. As such, the project was eligible for and utilized the Federal Historic Tax Credit.
Powers & Company worked closely with the client and architect to prepare the historic tax credit applications for the project, which involved the conversion of the former office floors into 248 hotel rooms, as well as the renovation of the lobby. Several amenity spaces, meeting rooms, lounges, and restaurants were also created as part of the project.
